It’s been almost a year since my last post which is sad. I’ve started my fourth year of university so things have been hectic to say the least. Especially around September & October when I was managing two jobs, classes, a placement, an acting class and a ballet class. My life was off the charts busy for a while, and time passed by so fast. Now I only have two exams left before my BA is complete (assuming I pass everything!), which is just insane to me.
I’m thankful that I managed to make it through my teaching practicum this semester. Overall it was a much better experience than my last placement which just wasn’t a good fit for me at all. This time around I actually looked forward to being in the classroom. Of course I was still terrified to be standing in front of a group of people and hoping the students were engaged while actually learning something in the process. However, I learned a lot from both my placements, and think I’ve improved significantly in the way I conduct myself in front of a classroom. Not to mention I have a much better understanding of the elements that go into making a successful and effective lesson.
My next steps are ??? . I still have no idea if teaching a class full time is really my cup of tea, so I think I’m going to start out with some volunteering. But I honestly do not know exactly what I would be happy doing everyday for the foreseeable future, hopefully I’ll figure it out (eventually). But for now, I think I’ll spend some time pursuing my hobbies, interests and volunteering to get a better idea of what I would like my future to look like.
