♡ first hot yoga experience ♡

Last Thursday my sister & I decided to try out hot yoga at the new studio near where we live, called Yogatown. They have locations in Ottawa & Stittsville. We decided to go with the Yin class since it’s a beginner level and I didn’t fancy passing out in front of a whole class.

I don’t think I really need to say how excited I was that they have a boutique located in the studio. I’m going to end up with several pairs of the adorable leggings. Seriously they were super cute.

My sister has done hot yoga once before,  so she was pretty eager to get me to try it. Initially I was really nervous since, well I’m always nervous, but it was an incredibly relaxing experience.

For one, you feel toasty warm the whole, which for me is a good thing since I’m usually freezing. The entire room is completely silent the minute you enter. This is great since you don’t have to worry about awkward chit chat before and after class. Also note that if you’re a chatter box it may pain you to be silent for this long. With the lights dimmed it’s quite dark, which is nice so you don’t have to think about how funny you look doing any poses. It also helps you to focus more on yourself and your own experience rather than others around you.

Overall it’s such a nice way to relax after a long day at work and to get back on track with my sporadic yoga practice. I think I may be purchasing the unlimited monthly class package when I go back for another class tonight.

  1. I’m a huge fan of hot yoga! I actually did power yoga teacher training in Ottawa and often we trained in a hot yoga room. Doing any kind of yoga is good yoga. Keep it up!
